WASHINGTON, DC., October 17th, 2025 – SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change appeared in an article by Megan Henry in the Ohio Capital Journal. Ohio received an “F” grade in SIECUS’ 2025 State Profiles. Henry discusses Ohio’s lacking sex education and higher teen birth rates and syphilis rates.

Senior Policy Analyst, Nawal Umar, is quoted throughout the article. “What we’ve seen is states that have no sex ed or poor sex ed policies, they typically fare worse on health indicators such as (sexually transmitted infections) rates, teen birth rates, having lower contraceptive knowledge, and other existing health disparities.”
